Now in the eighth year of their festival partnership, McElligotts of Tralee will debut a fully electric (EV) fleet promoting a new sustainability partnership. Not only will the EV fleet provide emission free towing assistance, but some vehicles will be used to power related festival events thanks to Vehicle -to -load(V2L)technology, eliminating the need for industrial generators. A total of nine electric vehicles, each equipped with towing systems, will lead the Rose Parade as part of Féile Thrá Lí on Friday, August 16th. & again on Sunday 17th August .In addition to this, one of the many events taking place is a Yoga Retreat at Tralee Wetlands. Mc Elligotts will use their fleet of Kia EV’s to power this event using Vehicle -to -load V2L)technology. V2L technology allows electric vehicle owners to power external electronic devices in various environments using the vehicles battery as a generator. V2L allows 80% of an EV’s battery capacity to be used externally; enough to power a typical family home for up to five days. It is easy to use and accessible either via the 3-pin socket located under the rear seats or through the external charging port using a dedicated connector. Speaking about the partnership Declan O’Hara, Dealer Principal at McElligotts Tralee commented: “We are delighted to be sponsoring the Rose of Tralee International Festival again this year. We are seeing more and more drivers in Kerry moving to EVs so the timing was perfect for us to move to a fully electric rose partnership. Not only are these vehicles perfect for towing floats with towing capacities of up to 2.5ton, but they also allow us to power other events taking place in Tralee over across the festival dates using Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology. At the peak of storm Éowyn in January, almost one million homes were without power across the country. All around Kerry, we had customers calling me to say that they were using our V2L technology to power their essential household appliances. This is a fantastic feature and something that many customers are still unaware of. This feature is also very useful for camping trips, barbecues, gardening tasks and other summer activities.” Steve Cronly, Director of Operations at the Rose of Tralee International Festival, added: “We have a fantastic partner in McElligotts Kia and we’re delighted to embark on this new sustainability partnership with them. As an organisation, we’re mindful of our environmental responsibilities and impact. We all have a role to play in creating a sustainable future, so collaborating on initiatives like this is really important. We look forward to hitting the road with McElligott’s EV fleet this year and showcasing Kia’s V2L technology.” Throughout the Festival, McElligotts Tralee will showcase the full Kia electric range, including the 2025 World Car of the Year, the EV3, alongside the New EV6 and seven-seater EV9. All models are available with 0% finance for 252, with payments starting from €246 per month. For more information, visit McElligotts Tralee on the Listowel Road or explore the range online at MCE.ie. McElligott’s Kia has announced a new sustainability partnership with the Rose of Tralee International Festival. As part of this year’s agreement, the Tralee-based dealership will provide a fully electric vehicle fleet to support the event.

This marks the eighth year of McElligott’s involvement with the Festival, but it’s the first time a full EV fleet will lead the iconic Rose Parade. A total of nine electric vehicles will be used during Féile Thrá Lí, taking place on Friday, August 16, and Sunday, August 17. Each car is fitted with towing systems and will replace traditional float-towing vehicles.

In a move to further reduce emissions, the cars will also power festival events using Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology, which turns the EV battery into a power source. One example will be a yoga retreat at Tralee Wetlands powered entirely by the Kia fleet, eliminating the need for generators.
