Walsh to miss Armoy as Manx Grand Prix takes priority
Ardfert bike racer Stephen Walsh will sit out this weekend’s Armoy Road Races in Antrim, marking the first time he’s missed the popular event since his debut there in 2022.
Walsh says the decision is all about focusing his time and resources on the Manx Grand Prix next month.
“I am really sorry not to be going,” Walsh said this week. “I’m saving everything for the Manx Grand Prix.”
This year will mark Walsh’s third appearance at the Manx Grand Prix.
Walsh secured his first Irish road racing podium earlier this year at Tandragee, where he rode his 500cc Honda to third place.
Following the Tandragee meeting in County Armagh, Walsh’s Honda was shipped directly to the Isle of Man for an engine upgrade ahead of next month’s event. #

“I won’t see it again until we begin practice for the Classic TT,” he added.
“The full target this season is the Grand Prix. Armoy is too close, time-wise, and I can’t risk engine or bike damage. Everything has to go into the Manx.”
The Manx Grand Prix runs in mid-August.
