Super Special Stage on Grand Prix track under consideration for Monte Carlo Rally
Plans are under consideration for a super special stage on the Monaco Circuit for the 2026 Rallye Monte-Carlo — the first time since 2008. If approved, it will run on the lower part of the iconic street track and close out Saturday’s action.
The 94th Rallye Monte-Carlo will run from January 18th to 25th, opening the 2026 World Rally Championship. Despite some red tape, the Automobile Club of Monaco has locked in the route and timetable.
Recce runs happen January 18th to 20th, then crews tackle a shakedown stage near Gap on January 21st. The rally officially starts Thursday, January 22nd from Monaco’s Quai Albert 1er. The first day covers three stages in the Alpes-Maritimes and Alpes-de-Haute-Provence.
Friday is the longest day with six stages in Drôme and Hautes-Alpes — three stages run twice for nearly 130 competitive kilometres. Saturday stays mostly in Alpes-de-Haute-Provence with two new runs through La Bréole / Bellaffaire and a repeat of Vaumeilh / Claret. Then it’s back to Monaco for the possible super special on the circuit.
“In contrast to the 2025 edition, this year the return to Monaco happens Saturday afternoon and wraps up with a super special stage – currently under consideration – the first since 2008 [SS 13 – 2,82 km – 17h45], set on the lower section of the iconic Monaco Circuit,” said media officer Richard Micoud.

Sunday wraps things up with four mountain stages: Col de Braus / La Cabanette and La Bollène-Vésubie / Moulinet, both run twice. The final run of La Bollène-Vésubie / Moulinet will be the Wolf Power Stage.
More details will follow closer to January but all eyes are on whether the Monaco circuit stage gets the green light
