Darragh Crean to return to Manx Grand Prix
Tralee-based motorcycle racer Darragh Crean has been confirmed for his second entry at the Manx Grand Prix this August.
The Manx Motor Cycle Club officially announced the full entry list over the weekend, with Crean again lining up with the DJ Racing team from Dublin
Crean will compete in both the Supertwin and Supersport classes.
He’s set to ride a Triumph, Supertwin, built by MD Racing, carrying race number 47 in the Supersport class and he will be l be on his Aprilia RS 660, running under number 23 for the SuperTwin category.
It’s a return to the iconic Isle of Man Mountain Course for Crean made his debut at the Manx in 2024.
He and DJ Racing are aiming to build on that experience, along with solid recent outings at the North West 200.
During the North West 200, Thursday proved eventful for Crean when he had a small incident on the Triumph, but he was back out that evening and brought it home for his first race finish of the meeting. Saturday, however, presented further challenges when an electrical fault sidelined the Triumph.
Focus then shifted to the Aprilia, with Crean finishing a steady 15th in race one and improving to 11th in race two after gaining more track time.DJ Racing Team Principal Danny Breen said: “We had a very good learning season last year together, and we now have a clear focus on what we want to do this year. We’re really looking forward to going back over to the Manx again, and hopefully the weather holds so we can put into practice what we learned.”
Crean added: “I’m very happy to be back again with DJ Racing for a second year. They were a great help to me last year for my first time on the Isle of Man.”
The 2024 Manx Grand Prix will run from August 17 – 25.
