Waterford Co-Driver Shane Reynolds Makes New Zealand Rally History
Shane Reynolds, originally from County Waterford, has become the first Irish co-driver to win a round of the New Zealand Rally Championship.
Reynolds achieved this milestone alongside driver Robbie Stokes at the recent Canterbury Rally.
The victory at Canterbury marks the first NZRC win for the Stokes Motorsport team. Robbie Stokes, who has shown pace for years, a long-sought result for the team.
The car had an almost trouble-free day, with dust and road sweeping reported as minor concerns. The crew also won the NZRC Power Stage, earning an extra bonus point.
Reynolds, a long-time member of Carrick of Suir Motor Club, and Stokes are now in second place overall in the NZRC standings, just seven points behind Ben Hunt with three rounds remaining. They are now in contention for their first New Zealand Rally Championship title.
The team extends thanks to the rally organizers and volunteers, praising the “spectacular” roads in North Canterbury.
