Massive Kerry contingent heads to Laois Mini Stages

A large contingent of competitors from Kerry is heading to County Laois this Sunday for the Acesigns Heartlands Rally, organised by Laois Rallysport Club.

The event, a round of the Top Part West Coast Championship, takes place on Sunday, with rally headquarters based at St Colman’s National School in Stradbally.

Leading the Kerry charge at the top of the entry list are Colin O’Donoghue and his co-driver Kieran O’Donoghue in their Ford Escort MK2.

Mike Quinn, navigated by Kieran Doherty in another Ford Escort MK2, will also be aiming for a strong result.

The rally has attracted Kerry-based women drivers, including the Kerry Motor Club entry of Michelle Quinn and Caz Somers in a Honda Civic.

Killarney and District Motor Club will be represented by Louise Bourke and Edwin Walsh in their Peugeot 206.

Adding to the Kerry presence, Peter Wilson (from Cavan) will have Currow’s John McCarthy co-driving his Ford Escort. David Slattery and Denis Coffey will be competing in a Ford Escort MK2, as will Raymond O’Neill and Denny Greaney.

Knocknagoshel’s Ian Horgan, with Gary Lombard alongside in their Toyota Corolla, will also be in action. Sean Enright and Kevin Doherty are another Kerry crew in a Ford Escort MK2.

Killarney’s David Randles, partnered by Ken Blanche, will be driving their Peugeot 208 Rally4. Raymond Spence, with Headford’s Ger Somers co-driving, will be in a Ford Escort MK2.

Eoin Sheahan and Darragh Lynch will be competing in a Honda Civic, and Eugene Buckley, with Aaron Williams co-driving their Toyota Starlet, will also be making the trip to Laois.
