Kerry competitors fly the flag across the globe

Kerry competitors were in action across four different countries and three continents last weekend.
On home soil, the Cavan Rally, round three of the Triton Showers Motorsport Ireland National Rally Championship, Shane Buckley guided Sam Moffett to second overall in their Hyundai i20 Rally2.
Despite an overshoot on stage five and pop-off valve issues, the Monaghan/Kerry crew enjoyed the conditions. Ger Conway navigated Richard Moffett to sixth in the modified category of the same event.
In Barbados for the King of the Hill hillclimb, the shakedown for Rally Barbados, Kerry Motor Club’s Martin Quirke and John Hurley finished fourth in their class in a Talbot Sunbeam on their debut in the Caribbean.
London-based Killarney native Mike Smith, with British co-driver Charlotte McGlashan, secured second in their class in their Hillman Imp.
Meanwhile, in Australia at the Make Smoking History Forest Rally near Perth, Western Australia, Templenoe’s Murish O’Connell co-drove for Frank O’Shea in a Subaru Impreza. They finished third in their class in Heat One on Saturday and fourth in class in Heat Two on Sunday.
Finally, in Belgium at the ORC Canal Rally, the second round of the Flanders International Rally Challenge, Keith McCarthy guided Cork driver Neil Phelan to third in their class in a Ford Escort.
