Big weekend planned in Athea to help save Road Racing
Road racing fans are in for a treat in Athea, Co. Limerick on Saturday and Sunday, May 17th and 18th, as the South West Road Racing Club teams up with the Road Race Alliance of Ireland (RRAI) for a weekend of fun, bikes, and fundraising.
The event, called “Throttles & Smiles,” is aimed at raising money to help keep road racing alive in the Republic of Ireland—and to support the much-anticipated return of the Athea Road Races this September.
There’s something for everyone across the weekend, including bike shows, kids’ entertainment, a Treasure Hunt, and even Biker Bingo. Camping will be available, and there’s plenty of parking for bikes and cars.
“Whether you’re a racer, part of a crew, or just someone who loves bikes, this weekend is for you,” said organiser Eamonn Walshe. “It’s a great chance to meet up, have the craic, and help support the sport we all love.”
All funds raised will go towards helping road racing continue in the Southern Centre this year.
