Defending champions Mason and McGlinchey lead the County Championship after round one
The recent Circuit of Kerry Rally has set the stage for a potentially wide-open Moriarty’s Central Car Sales Kingdom of Kerry Rally Championship, with a somewhat smaller than usual turnout of Kerry drivers in Tralee.
Despite the lower numbers – 20 local drivers in total – the competition remained fierce, and the points distribution suggests a thrilling season ahead.
Defending champions Tommy Mason and Paul McGlinchey have emerged as the early leaders, securing a class win in their Escort, placing them at the top of both the driver and co-driver standings.
Shane Buckley sits in second place in the co-driver standings after a strong third-place finish alongside Sam Moffett.
Sean Enright and co-driver Kevin Doherty are also in contention, holding second and third place, respectively, in the driver and co-driver standings.
John McCarthy and Maurice McElligott round out the top five co-drivers, while former champion Dave Slattery, Mossie Costello, and Mike Nelligan are among the leading drivers.
The upcoming Assess Ireland Rally of the Lakes is a double-scoring event, with points on offer for each day of competition.
