Local Crews gear up for West Cork Rally


The Clonakilty Park Hotel West Cork Rally, starting next Friday, will see a strong contingent of Kerry drivers battling it out over eighteen stages across St. Patrick’s weekend.

Killarney and District Motor Club’s Keith Cronin and Mikie Galvin, with support from Reen’s FIAT in Rathmore are the top seeds,.
They will defend their 2024 title in a Citroen C3 Rally 2.
Cronin aims to be the first Cork driver to win the rally back-to-back.
They’ll face competition from second seeds Matt Edwards and David Moynihan in a Hyundai i20 Rally 2, and two-time winners Josh Moffett and Andy Hayes in another Citroen C3 Rally 2.
Other top contenders include Jon Armstrong and Shane Byrne in a Ford Fiesta Rally 2, Eddie Doherty and Tom Murphy in a Skoda Fabia, and Cathan McCourt and Barry McNulty in a Hyundai i20 Rally 2.
Several other Kerry crews will be participating, including Vincent O’Shea (Kenmare) / Eoin O’Donoghue (Killarney) in a Darrian T90 and Darren Young (Tralee) / Pa Lawlor (Tralee) in a Honda Civic.
Killarney drivers on the entry list include Bob Moran (Glenflesk) in a Ford Escort and Sam Leech (Fossa) in a Honda Civic
John Corrigan (Waterville) competes in a Honda Civic
Kieran Reen (East Kerry) l co-drive for Cork’s Anthony O’Driscoll (driver) in a Peugeot 208
And relative newcomers Daniel O’Connor / Michael O’Shea are in a Honda Civic
In the Historic section, local drivers include:Alan Ring (Killarney) in a Subaru Legacy and Fergus O’Meara (Killorglin) in a BMW M3.
 Castleisland-based co-driver Denny Greaney is alongside Wayne Evans in Ford Escort Mk2
Darragh Lynch (co-driver) will also be competing in the Junior rally alongside Eoin Sheahan in a Honda Civic.
