Athea Road Races AGM announced

The South West Road Racing Club has announced an Annual General Meeting (AGM) to be held on February 9 at 7pm in the village hall in Athea.

This crucial meeting marks the first step towards a hopeful revival of the Athea Road Races in 2025, following a long absence due to significant insurance challenges and other issues.

Hope has emerged for the return of motorcycle road racing in Ireland this year, with the Road Racing Alliance of Ireland (RRAI) securing insurance for events in 2025.

“We are going to have a big year ahead and are going to need a lot of people involved to get everything sorted,” said club official Eamonn Walsh.

After the AGM the club will concentrate on organising the Athea Road Races with an August Bank Holiday weekend date provisionally pencilled in.
