Galway International Rally Postponed Due to Storm Damage

Defending Galway winners and Irish Tarmac Champions Keith Cronin and Mikie Galvin lead a strong line-up for the 2025 opener.

The 2025 Corrib Oil Galway International Rally, scheduled for this weekend, February 1st and 2nd, has been postponed due to the significant impact of Storm Eowyn.

In a statement released today, Galway Motor Club, in consultation with Motorsport Ireland, announced the difficult decision. Severe infrastructural damage caused by the storm, including widespread power and water outages, has left many residents in the affected areas without essential services.

“Priority must be given to workers bringing back crucial services to those living along the rally route,” the statement read. “We are acutely aware of not causing additional delays in the restoration of these services.”

Furthermore, widespread disruption to mobile phone coverage in the region would significantly impact the safe and efficient running of the event.

Galway Motor Clubsaid that this was not a decision taken lightly but deemed necessary for the overall welfare of the communities affected by the storm.

The club expressed gratitude to their sponsors, Corrib Oil, and all stakeholders for their understanding. They also thanked all those who had entered the rally and assured them that they would be contacted regarding entry fee refunds in the coming days.

The Galway Motor Club will work closely with Motorsport Ireland to determine a new date for the 2025 Corrib Oil Galway International Rally later in the year.
