While Rallye Monte-Carlo is classified as a tarmac round, the prospect of ice
and snow-coated stages usually means it’s anything but – and contributes
to making the event a formidable challenge.
● Running out of Gap – its home from 2014-2021 – for the second year in a
row following its move north from Monaco in 2024, Rallye Monte-Carlo
maintains its traditional slot on the world championship calendar as the
season-opening event.
● Following the 3.28-kilometre Shakedown stage close to Gap on Wednesday
afternoon, Monaco’s iconic Casino Square is the setting for the ceremonial
start from 14h30 local time on Thursday ahead of three night stages totalling
54,16 timed kilometres.
● Based in the departments of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and Hautes-Alpes,
the trio of early tests begins with Digne-les-Bains/Chaudon-Norante,
Faucon-du-Caire/Bréziers – the longest of the night at 21,18 kilometres – and
Avançon/Notre-Dame-du-Laus, which is due to begin at 21h06.
● Friday’s action in the departments of Hautes-Alpes and Alpes-de-HauteProvence consists of two loops of three stages either side of a service in Gap.
The 18,68-kilometre Saint-Maurice/Aubessagne is up first from 09h31 and
is also the longest of the day’s itinerary, which features 107,34 kilometres
against the clock.
● The Drôme department hosts the bulk of Saturday’s action, which is once
again made up of two loops of three stages split by a service halt in Gap.
At 131,40 timed kilometres, day three is rated by event organisers as “the
most difficult” and includes the new 20,85-kilometre Aucelon/RecoubeauJansac stage, plus the 27 kilometres of La Motte-Chalancon/Saint-Nazaire,
the rally’s longest stage.
● Rallye Monte-Carlo’s deciding Sunday leg begins in Gap and includes three
stages over a competitive distance of 50,90 kilometres ahead of the finish
in Monaco’s Casino Square from 16h15. The rerun of Avançon/Notre-Damedu-Laus is up first from 06h39 with the repeat of Digne-les-Bains/ChaudonNorante following from 08h32. The points-paying La Bollène-Vésubie/PeïraCava Power Stage is due to begin at 12h15.
● Having first taken place in 1911, Rallye Monte-Carlo is the world’s oldest rally.
This year’s event is the 93rd edition.
