Aoife Raftery wins Galway Sports Star Award in Motorsport
Aoife Raftery has been honoured with the Galway Bay Sports Star award in Motorsport.
The 2024 Medtronic Galway Sports Stars have been announced, with the awards ceremony scheduled for Friday, January 17 at the Galway Bay Hotel.
Established in 1965, these prestigious awards recognise outstanding Galway sporting achievements across various disciplines. This year, 21 awards will be presented by The Connaught Tribune and Galway Bay FM.
Craughwell-native Raftery will be presented with the award for Motorsport following her impressive performances in 2024.
Raftery enjoyed a successful year, competing both domestically and internationally in the European Rally Championship.
Highlights include a class win in the Irish Tarmac Rally Championship-counting Ulster Rally.
Additionally, she achieved a podium finish in the final round of the Junior British Rally Championship – the Cambrian Rally in Wales.
Raftery was also selected as one of 15 female drivers worldwide to participate in a women’s rally program.

Raftery will attend the launch of the Corrib Oil Galway International Rally on Friday night (January 10) at the Connaught Hotel.
