
The 2024 Boggeragh Rallysprint, set to take place on December 29, will witness an extraordinary family effort from the extended Shinnors family.
The rally clan from Bruff in County Limerick will compete in seven cars on the event, organised by Cork Motor Club and sponsored by I.C. Motor Factors & Tyres Killmallock,.
There is Kerry family connection too, as two Duggan brothers from the Healy Pass are set to co-drive for two members of the Shinnors family.
Central to the family team is 75-year-old Austin Shinnors, who will drive a Subaru Impreza WRX with his granddaughter Fia Shinnors navigating.
Fia is also the daughter of Austin’s son Timo, who will make his rally debut in a Peugeot 205 GTI, co-driven by Sean Duggan from the Healy Pass.
For Timo, who celebrated his 50th birthday earlier this month, the event marks his first outing with a co-driver, transitioning from years of autocross competition to rallying.

His brother Brian will co-drive for Austin’s son Alan, who will pilot a Mitsubishi Lancer E9.
Another of Austin’s sons, Matt, a seasoned competitor known for rallying on six continents, will tackle the event in a Mitsubishi Lancer E6 with his wife Catherine as co-driver.
Adding further depth to the family lineup, George Shinnors, Austin’s youngest son, will drive a Honda Civic VTI. He is paired with James Clifford, a first cousin of George’s wife, keeping the family ties.
Meanwhile, from a related Shinnors household, Austin’s cousin Joe Sr will navigate for Mike O’Connor Sr in a Mitsubishi Lancer E7. Joe’s son, Joe Jr, completes the impressive family effort, driving his own Subaru Impreza.
The Boggeragh Rallysprint will feature a 5.6km stage on gravel roads previously used on the Cork Forest Rally and marks the finale event in the 2024 Irish Motorsport calendar.
