A group of modified car enthusiasts from North Kerry have redefined the meaning of horsepower this holiday season. Inspired by his little sister, Tommy McElligott spearheaded a GoFundMe campaign that raised over €4,000 to purchase toys for the UHK Cashel Ward.

On December 15th, the spirit of giving cruised through the streets of Listowel and Tralee in a spectacular display. A convoy of 14 JDM cars, paraded under Garda escort, their final destination – the UHK Cashel Ward.

The heartwarming surprise was meticulously planned by Tommy McElligott and his team, including Jim Quirke (Santa Claus for the day!), Ciaran Sheehan (co-organizer), Samantha McElligott (Tommy’s mother), and Abbie McElligott (Tommy’s sister, and the inspiration behind the initiative).

“Only a few at UHK were aware of the plan,” shared a delighted organiser. “The look on everyone’s faces when the convoy showed up and we started unloading toys into the UHK Lobby – that was truly special.”

This generous act of kindness not only brought smiles to the faces of children at UHK Cashel Ward, but it also challenged stereotypes surrounding car culture.

“We want to go bigger and better next year,” the organisers revealed. “We also want to show people that the car community in Ireland isn’t all about loud engines and donuts. A few bad apples spoil the bunch, and events like this are living proof of the positive impact we can have.”
