Ballyduff racer Anthony O’Carroll’s family hoping for Christmas Miracle

Ballyduff motorbike racer Anthony O’Carroll continues his fight for recovery at Cork University Hospital after a serious accident at the Isle of Man races in July.

While the road ahead is long, his family is hopeful for a Christmas miracle – a transfer to the National Rehabilitation Hospital in Dun Laoghaire in March 2025.

Anthony’s mother, Mary O’Carroll, shared an update on her son’s progress. “The last few weeks have been filled with tests,” she said. “Finding and treating a slow internal bleed has helped reduce some of his pain, but communication remains a challenge. Despite not being able to speak, Anthony understands what’s being said and can follow commands.”

Mary expressed gratitude for the ongoing support.

“We would like to thank everyone for their well wishes and support,” she said. “It means the world to us during this difficult time.”

Anthony’s journey to recovery will continue with rehabilitation. While the waitlist for the specialised National Rehabilitation Hospital is long, the family remains hopeful for a transfer in March 2025.

The GoFundME stands at €73,209 and this figure does not include the money raised during the fundraiser weekend in September
