Noel Moloney eighth Overall and Class Win at International Rally of Whangarei

New Zealand-based co-driver Noel Moloney achieved an impressive eighth-place finish overall and a class victory at the International Rally of Whangarei.

He partnered with driver Ben Huband in a Subaru Impreza STi N14 for the first time.

Moloney said:“The rally started well, but we faced challenges on Stage 3 with a puncture that we had to drive through before changing it at the end of the stage. Unfortunately, another slow puncture at the end of Stage 4 meant we used both our spares early, leaving us 13th overall. However, switching to different tires in the afternoon and driving on cleaner roads allowed us to climb back to 11th overall while maintaining the lead in our class.”

Day two saw the team travel south of Whangarei, where they adopted a steady approach. Their determination paid off as they climbed to eighth overall by the rally’s end, securing the class win after battling fiercely throughout the day.

Moloney added, “Top effort from Ben Huband and the service crew. It was a fantastic weekend thanks to Ben’s family and everyone involved. I’m grateful for the invite to sit alongside him.”

Moloney is now gearing up for the North Island Rally Championship awards on December 7, where he and Quentin Palmer will receive prizes for second overall and first in class. He also extended thanks to his sponsor, Kingswood Healthcare, for their support.
