Irish rally legend MJ Morrissey is officially a World Rally Champion
Mickey Joe Morrissey, affectionately known as MJ, has clinched the WRC 2 Masters title alongside driver Eamonn Boland.

The Ford Fiesta Rally2 duo secured this prestigious FIA-recognized title at the recent FORUM8 Rally Japan, held on the challenging tarmac roads of the Japanese archipelago.
MJ’s chief rival Italian Flavio Zanella held held a 15-point lead before the rally but MJ and Eamonn delivered a category-winning performance to securing 25 points to claim the championship.
The WRC 2 Masters Championship is a title officially recognised by the FIA and WRC Promoter.

German Armin Kremer had already won the driver’s title on the Central European Rally but he is navigated by his daughter Ella and is not eligible for the Master’s Cup
.

The FORUM8 Rally Japan featured a demanding route with 21 special stages totalling over 302 kilometres on winding and occasionally very narrow tarmac roads.
