Firies engineer powers Kristoffersson to record seventh Rallycross title

Firies native Richard Browne, an engineer at KMS – HORSE Powertrain, played a pivotal role in Johan Kristoffersson’s historic seventh FIA World Rallycross Championship title.
The Swedish superstar clinched the championship on Sunday last, a day that also saw his teammate, Ole Christian Veiby, secure his first-ever World RX win.
Browne, who also serves as a trackside spotter for the team, contributed significantly to the success of both drivers.
“What a race to win the championship – simply unbelievable!” Kristoffersson said. “It was so much fun. Big thanks to all of our partners, designers, mechanics, engineers and my team-mate. Everybody has done a fantastic job and we’ve had a flawless year.”
Full of praise for the back room team following his maiden victory.
“Our pace was really good and the KMS boys kept me calm over the radio, and I want to thank everybody in the team for working flat-out for so long – we’ve been hunting this result for three years and came close last time out in Portugal. It feels amazing to finally get it,” said Veiby.
