Alex O’Grady impresses in maiden Supersport season

Alex O’Grady’s last-minute decision to contest to the Supersport Cup class at the Masters’ Superbike Championship at Mondello Park this season proved worthwhile.

Despite initially planning to sit out the racing season, a last-minute decision by his brother, Jack O’Grady, to move up to the Superbike class presented  Alex with an unexpected opportunity.

With Jack electing to move the Superbike class on board a new Yamaha R1 he decided to hand his Suzuki GSXR to his younger brother who raced in the Supersport Cup championship after a few seasons in Production Twins.

Impressively,  Alex managed to secure three podium finishes in the Cup through the season, consistently clocking low 57-second lap times and even achieving a front-row start in a wet qualifying session.

He ended up sixth in the Cup championship and Jack rewarded his efforts once again by offering his Superbike for a test session.

Looking ahead to 2025, Alex is eager to explore various racing opportunities, including returning to the Principal Insurance Masters Superbike Championship, the Ulster Superbike Championship, or even venturing across the water to the Wirral 100 Championship.

Meanwhile, the draw for the raffle organised as part of the Anthony O’Carroll Fundraiser will take place on Friday night at Yer Man’s Bar, Ballyduff, from 9pm, all welcome.
