Michael Leslie, the original owner, purchased the Ford Popular in 1953 from Jimmy the Masters Ford dealership in Killarney. The car was built at the Cork Ford Factory that same year.

Over the years, the Ford Popular has been passed down through the generations, with Michael’s son, Tom, and grandson, Pierce, becoming cherished custodians of the vehicle.

The Leslie family showcased their classic car at the All-Ireland Vintage Rally, an event hosted by the Killarney Valley Classic and Vintage Club and Trustees of Muckross House.
The rally took place on the grounds of Muckross Traditional Farms, providing a picturesque backdrop for the display of vintage vehicles.
