A look back at last Sunday’s Ballymac classic car run

Over 120 cars take part in the Ballymac Classic Car Run

Ballymac Vintage Club raised a total of €5,708.18 for local charities during its 14th Annual Car and Honda 50 on Sunday.

The morning began with a  Cars N Coffee event at O’Riadas Bar & Restaurant Ballymacelligott.

Over 120 cars registered on the day.

“There was a wide array of makes and models from the 1950s through to the early 2000s. It was fantastic to have numerous cars and bikes not seen before on their first outing, as well as some unique and rarely seen examples, including a 1980 Honda 50 recently restored to as-new condition, a 1990 Fiat Panda 750cc L ‘Italia 90’ special edition and a 1968 Morris Minor, a project car we might see on the road for next year’s run,” said PRO Kieran Glover.

Proceeds on the day were in aid of the Knocknagoshel Over 55 Services and Scoil Ide Curranes National School.

Ballymac Vintage Club thanked  main sponsors: Browne’s Agri Steel & Builders Providers, BG Motors Ltd Killarney, O’Riadas Bar & Restaurant Ballymac, as well as numerous other local businesses who sponsored over €1,000 in spot prizes and raffle prizes on the day: GMIB Insurance, Boyles Hardware Tralee, Garvey’s SuperValu, Castleisland Tyre Centre, Irish Vintage Scene, B Safe Training,  Agri Auto Parts, The Motor Shop Killarney, CRL OIL, CC Lubricants, Halfords Tralee, Brian O’Neill Garden Equipment, Tralee Tyre Depot, Cul Cabs, Macs Auto Parts

“After taking the opportunity to have a good look around all the cars and bikes, the convoy of vehicles left for a nice local scenic drive, taking some of the lesser travelled roads in the direction of Castleisland, before continuing to the halfway point in Brosna village,” added Kieran.

“After a brief stop to stretch the legs, the convoy continued to the finish in Knocknagoshel. The local Knocknagoshel Meals on Wheels team put on a great spread for everyone to end a very enjoyable day out.”
