Murphy’s Manx mission

Andrew Murphy faces a race against time to have his Honda VFR NC30 ready in time for the Manx Grand Prix at the end of the month.
The Mountcollins-based rider has secured an entry for the August 18 to 26 event.
It will be his first time racing on the Isle of Man.
Murphy is a frontrunner in the Moto 400 class in the Principal Insurance Masters Superbike Championship at Mondello Park. He is leading the Irish championship after 12 of the 18 races despite failing to finish all three races at the July meeting.
An accident in race one damaged his Honda which also resulted in his retirement from race two. His third race was curtailed by an overheating engine.
He is now burning the midnight oil to have the engine and bike frame rebuilt in time for his August 14 ferry to the island.
He must participate in the Newcomers Speed Control Lap on August 18 to be granted permission to race in the full meeting.
