“I will be back” Chenny says he has unfinished business in Irish rallying after finishing second in class at the Stonethrowers
WRC TV presenter Mike Chen wants another crack at Irish rallying after finishing second in class on the Stonethrowers Rally on Sunday.
Chen contested the Clonmel-based rally – the fifth round of the Triton Showers Motorsport Ireland National Rally Championship – in a NAPA-backed Skoda Fabia S2500.
A year ago he entered the Raven’s Rock Rally in the same car where he finished third in class.

So, it will be a case of third time lucky and Chen is determined to return to Irish rallying to get that elusive class win.
“I was a little bit disappointed to lose the class win by four seconds but we caught a car in stage seven and dropped a whole bunch of time” he told Kerry Motorsport News.
“We followed that car for about seven kilometres so there was easily four seconds dropped there.
“That’s the way it is. That’s the way rallying goes sometimes and that’s OK.
“A massive congratulations to the class winners and to everybody else you got to end of the rally. There’s unfinished business there so I will be back.”
Chenny also paid tribute to his great friend Craig Breen. The car carried one of Craig’s famous quotes “ONLY YOU KNOW YOUR TRUE POTENTIAL” on the front visor.
“I was very proud to carry my friend’s quote on the windscreen. That man was with me all day for sure,” he added.
And just like Craig, the rally was all about having fun.
“Classic Irish rally roads, fast and committed and a real test,” he said.
“It was great to see the fans the fans line the stages that just made the event.
“Even when the rain came there were out there cheering everybody on so it was brilliant.”

The deal to drive the Stonethrowers would not have been possible without Andrew Fanning, who owns the car and a host of sponsors.
“Massive thanks to the sponsors and everybody involved and in particular Andrew Fanning for once again letting me loose in his unbelievable Skoda Fabia.

“It is one amazing piece of kit. So massive thanks to him and of course to NAPA for all their support and to Rally Cover and Driven Car Storage
“And a big thanks to everybody who came up and said hello. It was great to meet everyone again.
He was co-driven by John McCay, another friend of Craig’s.
