EXCLUSIVE: Cheny is back and this time he is throwing stones in memory of CB

WRC TV presenter Mike Chen will return to Irish rallying this weekend and is set to compete in Sunday’s Stonethrowers Rally in Clonmel.

Cheny was a close friend of Craig Breen.
A year ago, he honoured the great Waterford man by tackling the Raven’s Rock Rally in a Skoda Fabia S2500.

This year, due to Triton Showers National Rally Championship event rotation rules, the Raven’s Rock Rally is on a year off.
The next closest event to Craig’s Waterford heartland is the Clonmel-based Tipperary Stonethrowers Rally.
“I am really excited to come back to Ireland and to be driving in the Stonethrowers Rally,” Chen told Kerry Motorsport News.
“Ireland is home to me so it is great to be back. I am looking forward to seeing everybody and catching up with everyone.”
“It will be great craic. The Stonethrowers itself is a great rally with classic Irish roads and with big commitment needed, it will be superfast so I am looking forward to getting stuck in.”

“I am not looking to set the world on fire, more looking to have some fun and after all that’s what rallying in Ireland is all about.”
This is no ordinary Skoda. It looks like a Skoda Fabia S2000 but it is fitted with a 2.5-litre Millington Diamond engine.

“It is a real screamer and a proper piece of kit,” he added.
The car is owned by Andrew Fanning, another great friend of Craig’s.  Chen’s appearance in Tipperary is made possible by NAPA – a trusted source for automotive parts in Ireland – and Fanning Autoparts.
Last year the car was sign written with some of Craig’s most famous quotes, and Mike is promising a similar approach to Sunday’s rally.
The Skoda will continue to feature some of Craig’s best-remembered quips – often said in the heat of the moment at stage ends to Chen’s WRC TV colleagues – but with a new twist.
This time around the car will be adorned with another special livery – to be revealed on Kerry Motorsport News on Wednesday or Thursday this week.

“It will be a very cool livery and I am really excited for you all to see it.
“It will look awesome during the rally. It is being done with support from NAPA and Fanning Autoparts. I have a great relationship with Andy Fanning through our mutual friend Craig Breen.”
He will be co-driven by John McCay, another friend of Craig’s.
