When Motorsport Ireland Rally Academy driver Aoife Raftery needed transport for last week’s BAHAUS Royal Rally of Scandinavia she had no hesitation in choosing a Peugeot 3008 GT.

The Galway rally driver spent a week in Sweden preparing for the third round of the FIA European Rally Championship.

She and co-driver Hannah McKillop from County Antrim are contesting the 2024 Junior FIA European Rally Championship driving a Peugeot 208 Rally4 that is prepared by Irish team PCRS Rallysport.

The rally got underway last Thursday night in the host city of Karlstad.

Raftery was in the country since the previous Sunday and spent the week attending several official preliminary events including Tuesday’s official test session and a fan meet-and-greet on Thursday night.

Raftery and McKillop needed a spacious car to transport their personal luggage and race equipment like helmets for the week.

The Peugeot 3008 GT proved its capabilities by transporting the rally crew, other team members and all their equipment on the 300km drive from Stockholm to Karlstad.

During the competition, which ran all day Friday and concluded on Saturday evening last, the Peugeot 3008 GT was used by team members to ferry them and associated equipment to and from the event’s base and their accommodation.

“The first thing I noticed was the way to spacious boot swallowed all our bags and racing equipment leaving plenty of room for more,” said the Craughwell native. “It is great to drive, the Peugeot 3008 GT is equally comfortable for drivers and passengers. Its interior design is a stand-out feature, but I was very impressed with the large and practical boot.”
