Super Swedish Saturday awaits Raftery

Galway-based rally driver Aoife Raftery and co-driver Hannah McKillop are holding a top ten position after the first full day of action at the third FAI European Junior FIA Rally Championship.

The Motorsport Ireland Rally Academy driver is contesting the BAUHAUS Royal Rally of Scandinavia and aims to consolidate her championship third-place place position over Sunday’s final leg.
Driving a PCRS Rallysport-prepared Peugeot 208 Rally4 she and McKillop hold ninth place in the Junior category of the rally after a “challenging” Friday.
Raftery is looking forward to the final day of high-speed action in the Värmland and Karlstad areas of central Sweden on Saturday.
“Delighted to be at the end the day, it has been a challenging day but a lot of fun too, and I am really enjoying the stages,” she said.
“Looking forward to the Sunday stages, overall it has been a really good rally, the top three drivers here are all local and the plan on Sunday is to get closer to their pace on Sunday. We came here in a good position in the championship and hopefully that will stay the same on Saturday evening.”
The hub of the rally is the service park and HQ in Karlstad, the long-time home of the WRC Rally Sweden.
Saturday’s eight stages are based east of Karlstad and the rally finishes at the service park with the official closing ceremony.
