Top 20 results for Emmet O’Grady at North West 200

Tralee motorcycle racer Emmet O’Grady recorded top 20 results in all the races he contested at last week’s North West 200 in Derry.

The North West 200 is Ireland’s biggest motorcycle racing event.

It attracts the finest line-up of road racers of any race on the planet, drawing thousands of visitors to the 8.9-mile circuit that links the towns of Portrush, Portstewart and Coleraine.

O’Grady

raced a Yamaha R6 for the AK Thomas Bourne in the Supersport class and a Honda Fireblade in the Superbike class.

O’Grady was lacking seat time given there was no motorcycle racing in the Republic of Ireland last year He has only contested limited race meetings since his 2023 appearance at the North West 200. He is also recovering from an illness earlier in the year.

“Overall it went good, back up to where I was last year considering where I was earlier in the year,” he said.

“I probably should have more in both the Supersport races  but I am putting this down to lack of seat time so in the end I am happy to come away with the top 20s in all the classes, Everything went smooth,  no problems and the seat time stands well for rest of the season at the Masters.”

O’Grady will turn his attention to round two of the Irish Masters National Motorcycle racing championship at the weekend.

Other locals to race there include Andrew Murphy and Stephen Heelan.

Meanwhile, Darragh Crean will continue his British Superbike campaign with an entry for the Donington Park meeting this weekend.
