Jack Brennan holding seventh place on impressive European Rally Championship debut
Motorsport Ireland Rally Academy member Jack Brennan, on his European debut, is holding a very impressive seventh overall on Rally Hungary.
The Billy Coleman Award winner Moincoin and his Enniscorthy-based co-driver John McGrath are exceeding pre-event targets.
They have signed up for the FIA Junior European Rally Championship for the first time and the Peugeot 208 Rally4 crew are part of a two-car Rally Academy team entered in the Hungarian event that also includes Galway’s Aoife Raftery.
“It was a great day, my first proper day of the European Rally Championship rallying. It was a demanding day, it was tough, the stages were long and the roads were well rutted up by the time we got there,” he said.
“Happy to be sitting in seventh overall after day one. Being in the top ten on one stage was my target, so hopefully we just the pace for tomorrow and see how it goes.
A further six, high-speed and demanding stages lie ahead on Sunday morning.
V-Híd Rally Hungary is based in the city of Veszprém, 120km south of the capital Budapest.
