Kerry drivers competing in Carrick Forestry Rally on Sunday
The Killarney and District Motor Club KDMC Youth Team will take part in its second rally this weekend.
A four car Junior 1000 team in entered in Sunday’s Carrick-on-Suir Motor Club’s Willie Loughman Forest Rally.
Junior 1000 is a special category that allows 14-17-year-olds compete in rallies in a controlled environment in low-powered cars,
Leading the team is Sean White and his co-driver Sean Nolan in a Peugeot 107.
Next up is KDMC member but County Meath-based Morgan Moore with the legendary James O’Brien alongside in a Skoda Citigo.
David Slattery Jr will be co-driven by Ger Somers – both crew members from the Headford area – in a Hyundai i20.
Son and father team Frank and Cyril Wharton compete in a Toyota Aygo.
In the senior rally brother and sister Mossie and Megan Costello will drive a Ford Fiesta Rally4 and Kerry Motor Club’s Colin Neligan and Bernard McSweeney are in an older R2 version of the Ford Fiesta.

Better known for co-driving, KDMC’s Derry Long will drive a Honda Civic in the rally.
The action kicks off early Sunday morning, with the first of the J1000 crews leaving Waterford at 8.30am, with the prize presentations scheduled for 5pm outside the Rhu Glenn Hotel.
