Walkenhorst Motorsport signs Lorcan Hanafin for full  Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe pwd. by AWS Endurance Cup season.

For many years, the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe pwd. by AWS Endurance Cup has established itself as the world’s most important GT racing series.

On average, more than 50 GT3 cars take part in the Endurance Cup races, and at last year’s season highlight – the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa – there were even 70 cars on the grid!

 A feast for every fan of GT racing. Walkenhorst Motorsport is contesting the five races of the season this year with three brand-new Aston Martin Vantage GT3s.

The objective of the team is clear: the 2018 overall victory at the 24-hour race in the Ardennes is to be repeated and the team also wants to have a say in the class title fights.

“The Fanatec GT World has been part of our regular programme for many years. In the past, we achieved one of the greatest successes in our team’s history by winning the 24-hour race at Spa. This year, thanks to the cooperation with Aston Martin Racing, we will complete our biggest programme in the racing series. Our goals for the upcoming races are high!” says Henry Walkenhorst, founder of Walkenhorst Motorsport.

 In order to realize these ambitious goals, three Aston Martin factory driver will be competing for the team in the highly competitive in the Silver Cup, the talented Frenchman Romain Leroux, who won the Aston Martin Racing Driver Academy in 2022, and Lorcan Hanafin will compete for Walkenhorst Motorsport.

Maxime Robin will drive the car as the third driver. Leroux, who began his motorsport career in Singapore, has driven exclusively Aston Martin cars since switching to GT racing in 2021.

 In 2022, the youngster finished runner-up in the ADAC GT4 Germany. The young Hanafin is best known to German fans for his season in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany; he will contest his first full season in GT3 racing in 2024.

At the Fanatec GT World 2023 season finale in Barcelona, he has already competed in the SRO racing series, which ended directly with a class win!

We have a strong lineup with Romain, Maxime and myself paired with everyone at Walkenhorst Motorsport – I’m sure we will have a successful season!” said Lorcan Hanafin ahead of his debut season in the high-caliber SRO racing series.
