Tralee rider Darragh Crean got his season underway by participating in a pre-season test session in Spain last weekend.
Earlier this year Crean announced an ambitious programme of events for the 20224 season.
He will race in the Sportsbike championship that runs alongside the prestigious British championship, tackle several road races in Northern Ireland and make his Manx Grand Prix debut in August.
In an effort to get race-ready, he attended a test session at Circuito Velocidad de Cartagena in Southwest Spain over the weekend.
There he rode both the SuperTwin and 600cc machines he will use in both Ireland and Britain later this year.
“We weren’t watching the times,” he said, “It was all about seat time and braking and technique. Cartagena is fast and flowing and very like Mondello Park.”
Crean’s first overseas race will be the opening round of the British Super Bike Championship at Donington Park on May 1 and 2.
