There is a strong Kerry entry for this weekend’s Corrib Oil Galway International Rally.

Over 30 Rally2 cars are set to start the Samdec Security-supported international series’ curtain raiser with reigning Irish Tarmac champions Callum Devine and Noel O’Sullivan opening the road as top seeds.

Devine is yet to win in Galway and will have second seed and 2022 victor Josh Moffett breathing down his neck.

Keith Cronin and Aghadoe co-driver Mikie Galvin make a welcome return to the Irish Tarmac Rally Championship.

The 2016 Irish Tarmac and four-time British Champion Cronin returns to Galway for the first time in eight years. Seeded third, there are fewer more talented than Cronin and one can be confident he will waste no time in getting up to speed.

Cronin and Galvin  have been competing in the British Rally Championship for the last few years but arrive in Galway with an M-Sport supported Ford Fiesta Rally2.

Ger Conway will co-drive for Gareth MacHale in a Volkswagen Polo R5. The Milltown-based co-driver previously worked with MacHale  on both last year’s Circuit of Ireland Rally and the 2022 Tipperary Stonethrowers Rally.

Conor Murphy and Sean  Collins will be one the favourites  to win the Modified section of the rally in their Ford Escort Mk2

Kerry Motor Club’s John Michael Kennelly and Brendan Behan compete in a Class 13 Ford Escort Mk2.

John Hickey has placed a late entry for the rally in a newly acquired Subaru Impreza.

Several other Kerry-based co-drivers are on the Galway entry list. They include John Fleming who is alongside Stephen Bawn in  a Citroen C3 Rally2. Darragh Lynch is alongside Andy Heekin in a Subaru Impreza and in the junior rally, which runs only on Sunday, Aaron O’Connor is alongside Dylan Sheehan in a Honda Civic EG.
