Irish rally team PCRS Rallysport hold seventh position in Spanish championship rally

Irish rally PCRS Rallysport hold a top-ten position in Spanish championship rally

After the opening three stages of Rallye La Nucía-Mediterráneo, the penultimate round of the Spanish SuperChampionship, PCRS Rallysport holds seventh overall.

Their driver, Phillip Allen from County Tyrone, has been inside the top ten all day.

He and co-driver Dale Furniss were seventh on the opening test but picked up a puncture.

That left them without a spare wheel for the following two 28-kilometre stages.

They spun on SS2 and lost breaks towards the end which dropped them to eighth. They were also being careful as another puncture could spell the end of their rally.

They recovered to seventh ahead of the Friday evening service halt. They are one place ahead of Belgian legend Freddi Loix.

The same three stages get underway around 18.30 Irish time – all to be run under the cover of darkness.
