Alan Ring’s European tour
Killarney-based Alan Ring completed his mini-European tour in Italy last weekend.
Rallye San Remo Historic was the BMW M3 E30 driver’s second continental event in as many weeks.
In late September he competed in the East Belgium Rally, his first rally outside of Ireland and Britain despite 20 years of competitive driving.
In Belgium, he finished third in the historic class.
The Italian event was specific to Historic rally competitors and attracted some of the biggest names in European rally sport.
Ring and Co-driver Adrian Deasy finished 11th overall in the legendary Italian event.
He said: “ We came over here to get experience and to tick off boxes for some famous Italian stages We had no issues with the car all weekend but we did have to re-learn how to make notes and to the stuff like that again. It was a good experience I’m looking for to doing more.”
