London-based Kerry Mick Smith could be setting a record on this weekend’s Clare Rally.
He has entered the Ennis-based rally as part of a large team of drivers from the London Irish Motor Club and will drive his rare Hillman Imp on the nine-stage event.
He will certainly be one of the oldest drivers in the event, in his mid-seventies, Mick is very proud of his life in motorsport.
His co-driver for the event will 16-year-old Cian Lynch, the youngest competitor in the rally.
Surely this must the oldest/youngest combination in the rally.
“It is just fantastic to be able to give an opportunity t to a young kid
“I don’t know are the oldest and the youngest guy in a rally, but who cares, we may be, I’m just pleased to be able to take out the young lad and give him a bit of experience.”
