Andrew Murphy will race at Oliver’s Mount in England for the first time later this month

Andrew Murphy will compete in the 2023 Steve Henshaw Gold Cup meeting at Oliver’s Mount, Scarborough later this month as part of a long-term plan to compete in the Manx Grand Prix

The September 23 – 24 event takes place at the venue that is billed as England’s only road racing circuit and it will be the Mountcollins-based riders first time competing at the track.

Murphy’s outings have been limited this year as a result of the on-going insurance crisis that has prevented racing at Mondello Park.

Aside from two race meetings, one each at Bishopscourt and Kirkistown in Northern Ireland, Murphy’s has not really competed this season.

After visiting the recent Manx Grand Prix on the Isle of Man, Murphy was inspired to enter the famous event next year and follow in the wheel tracks of fellow local racers Anthony O’Carroll and Stephen Walsh.

“Scarborough is known as a road race event though it takes place in a park land,” said the Honda VFR 400 RIDER

“I need to start thinking about my licence upgrade, I want to do the Manx Grand Prix, it was out of this world, the atmosphere, the people, everything about the place.”
