Plans to bring the World Rally Championship to Ireland in 2025 have taken another step forward.

Motorsport Ireland has written to all affiliate clubs seeking the indemnification of a suitable service park in their areas.

The letter was widely distributed on WhatsApp groups on Thursday and seen by Kerry Motorsport News.

“As you will no doubt be aware by now, Motorsport Ireland are engaging with various

stakeholders to host a round of the FIA World Rally Championship in 2025.

Naturally, hosting an event of this size and scale would bring challenges, but none

are insurmountable,” said the letter.

“A key element of this event will be where it is based, particularly the service area and

media centre which will have a sizeable footprint.”

To that end, they  are asking each region of the country to come up at least 2 suitable

service areas that meet the following requirements

• 10,000 square metre area of flat, solid ground that will host the event service

area and ancillary services.

• It would be preferable if this area had buildings suitable to conduct

administration checks for competitors and accommodate a media centre for a

minimum of 100 people.

• If there are not suitable buildings within the 10,000 square metre service area

to perform administration checks or host a media centre, please identify

suitable buildings within a 2km distance of the service area that can host

these services.

• If your club identifies a suitable location(s) please provide as many images

and measurements as possible.

The regional MSC representatives will then call meetings at the end of September

with the clubs in their region to review the options and pass them forward to a

working group for consideration.

“Hopefully this is the start of something very exciting and I would urge your club to

partake in this process as much as possible,” concluded the letter.
