O’Carroll ready for Armoy Road Race challenge

Road racer Anthony O’Carroll is unsure how to plan his attack on this weekend’s Armoy Road Races in County Antrim.

His main focus is the Manx Grand Prix in August and any bike damage in County Antrim could put that trip in jeopardy.

However, based on recent form, podium finishes are possible too.

O’Carroll has entered three different classes in Armoy. He will ride his Kawasaki ZX6R in the Senior Support race and his Kawasaki ER6 in both the Junior Support and SuperTwin races.

Last time out, on Irish roads, art the Cookstown 100  he won the Senior Support races, was second in the Junior Support race and was third in the SuperTwin races where he shared the podium with road racing royalty Michael Dunlop.

“Hopefully I can carry the form Cookstown into Armoy,” he said. “At the same time I don’t want to risk getting into a stupid battle for the sake of a win, you would feel an awful fool dusting yourself off up there and the Manx only around the corner. The Isle of Man is the priority after all the work gone into getting there.” Ardfert’s Stephen Walsh is also entered in the Classic element of the Armoy Road Race.
