Fleming’s Micra debut in Down
Local co-driver Damian Fleming returned to the driver’s seat for the first time since the 2008 Cork ‘20’ junior rally.

Last month he bought a Nissan Micra kit car from Barry Meeke .
He gave the car its debut at Saturday’s Down Rally,
“When I heard of the Micra Challenge in the North it absolutely sucked me in, I’m all for cost-effective clubman rallying,” he said.
“We need to organise something like this in the south.
“It was great to be back behind the wheel, it was a big learning curve and left-hand drive but I really enjoyed it!
“Found it very difficult to drive the car on the first loop as it was pulling me all over the road, we discovered a problem with the front suspension in the mid-day service halt.
“Once that problem was solved we started putting in top three -stage times in the class.
