Big Kerry interest in Sligo Rally
The West Coast Rally championship moves to Sligo this weekend and there is a massive Kerry contingent heading to the NorthWest for the Connacht Sligo Rally.
The rally is also round five of the Triton Showers National Rally Championship and marks the return of Callum Devine and Noel O’Sullivan.
The Derry/Kerry pairing skipped the Raven’s Rock Rally in Waterford two weeks ago but the Volkswagen Polo Gti crew, the round one winners are back to try and end Josh Moffett’s current domination of the championship. The Monaghan driver has won the last three national rallies on the bounce.
The top all Kerry crew is that of Mike Quinn and Kieran Doherty who start at 31 in their Ford Escort. They lead class 14 in the Top Part West Coast championship despite a non-finish in Laois last month.
Their cause to win the class title is helped by the fact that second-placed driver Ed Syan has opted to compete on the Ballyfinnane Hillclimb on Sunday instead.
Dave Slattery and Denis Coffey head to Sligo holding second place in the West Coast Championship in class 13 in their Ford Escort.

Ger O’Brien and John Liston are tenth in the same class.
Tralee’s Richard Talbot is co-driving for Clare’s Christy Carey in a Mitsubishi Lancer E9.
Sean Enright and Kevin Doherty are third in class 12 while their North Kerry neighbours Eddie Kennelly and Paul McGlinchey lead class 11R. Honda Civic driver Gearóid O’Regan is second in Class 3 in his Honda Civic Type R
