120th anniversary of Ballyfinmane – plans are moving ahead for a commemorative motorsport event
Plans to commemorate the Ballyfinnane Hillclimb are moving ahead.
The famous hill climb took place near the mid-Kerry village on July 15, 1903.
To mark the 120th anniversary of the first closed road motorsport event, Kerry Motor Club are planning to run an event at the same location – subject to Motorsport Ireland approval and a course safety inspection – on July 16 this year.
The club held an open public meeting in the village last Saturday night.
There was great support from the locality and the local Community Council will come on board as joint organisers of the event.
Regular meetings will take place in the locality from mid-April, after Kerry Motor Club’s next event, the April 2 Circuit of Kerry.
