As a result the London-based Hillman Imp driver managed to secure a sponsorship deal with Rentokil Initial Barbados.

He also appeared on the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation’s main evening news bulletin on Saturday night.  Video evidence below:

“Don’t let the smile fool ya,” said the Killarney native.

“Really hard day on Saturday. Loss of power. No alternator and had to remove the sump guard to get more air to the engine but what a feckin event!”

However the Imp endured fuel pump issues on Sunday and he was forced to retire – but it wasn’t the result that counted, it was the experience.
