Road racer Stephen Walsh finished on his Isle of Man debut on Sunday.
The Ardfert man competed in the pre-TT Classic Road Races on the Billown closed road circuit for the first time.
After qualifying third for the Classic Support the Honda CB350 found himself in a battle for second in the race.
However, he made a mistake at a road end and overshot a junction. This dropped him well down the- order but he was able to fight back to take fourth.
Walsh believes that a podium finish would have been possible had he not made the mistake.
“After the overshoot, there were five or six bikes in front of me, horns out and head down, I picked a few of them off,” he said. “It was a very hard circuit to learn, I was good in the fast places but not so good in the slower places, there was a podium there for sure, maybe next time.”

Walsh’s sixth-place finish gave him his sixth and final signature he needs to upgrade his race licence so he can compete in the Manx Grand Prix in August. The 100th edition of this famous race takes place over the daunting 37-mile TT course.
As well as racing on the Isle of Man this week, Walsh took the opportunity to gain some race instruction and laps over the TT course in preparation for the main event later this summer.
