Less than ten seconds prevented three Kerry drivers from recording top-ten finishes on Sunday’s Cavan Rally.
The third round of the Triton Showers National Rally Championship was won by Circuit of Kerry winners Josh Moffett and Keith Moriarty.
They entered the final stage just 0.3 of a second behind Callum Devine and local co-driver Noel O’Sullivan but turned that deficit around in a dramatic and determined fashion.
Donegal’s David Kelly was on his first outing since an accident in the West Cork Rally in March and was using the rally to get some seat time ahead of his home event, the Donegal International Rally next month.
He and new co-driver, London-based Killarney man Shane Buckley were fifth in another Citroen C3.
Stephen Wright finished 11th. He was just 9.9 off the tenth-placed Dessie Keenan. The Ford Fiesta driver was co-driven by Milltown’s Ger Conway.
Brian Doherty and Martin Donnelly were 45th
