There were plenty of local success stories at the end of the Laois Rallysprint last Saturday.
The Stradbally event was won by Daniel Cronin and Padraig O’Donovan marking the first overall win for O’Donovan. They were driving the Cronin family’s Volkswagen Polo R5.
Third place went to Limerick driver PJ O’Connor and his Castleisland co-driver Denny Greaney in their usual Mitsubishi Lancer E9.
“What a day – amazing driving all day [by PJ] and beating R5 cars,” said Greaney.

Although he did not finish Gearoid O’Reagan did enough to secure class honours in the Midlands East Rally Championship.
The Honda Civic driver was in his first full season of rallying.
