Rob Duggan has entered next month’s Corrib Oil Galway International Rally* but in totally unexpected way.
The winner of the 2021 Killarney Historic Rally will compete in the opening round of the Irish Tarmac Rally Championship in a Honda Civic…in the passenger seat.
The Aghadoe man will co-drive for his friend Jason Farrell in the junior rally section of the February 5 and 6 event.

The pair were due to contest the 2019 West Cork Rally together until the pandemic got in the way.
It will only be Rob’s second time competing as a co-driver, he guided his sister Tara to fourth in class in the Imokilly Mini Stages in July 2019 in a Ford Fiesta R2.
February’s event is repayment to his friend Jason who helped build the new Ford Escort Mk2 that Rob steered to victory in the Rentokil Initial Killarney Historic Rally last November.

“Every night I was up in the shed at the car, he was three too,” said Rob. “I want to help him and repay him but I am a very bad passenger – I am fitting my own set of brake pedals to the passenger side.”
