Who says a bit of PR work won’t pay off eventually.
Two years ago, in the run up to the Rentokil Initial Killarney Historic Rally, Kerry Motorsport News’ Sean Moriarty and London Irish Chairman Mick Smith were in Belgium – as they often are.
They were down to do the Hemicuda Rally in mid-October but their car was not ready in time. With hotels and everything else booked they decided to go anyway.
While there they promoted the Rentokil Initial Killarney Historic Rally with special “See you there” door panels.

They spoke to every historic competitor in the service park and their efforts proved worthwhile as Belgian Opel Manta 400 legend Paul Lietaer entered the 2019 Killarney event.
They also spoke to Mats Van Den Brand, the Dutch BMW expert who is running Craig Breen and Paul Nagle this weekend.
Two years ago he was running Belgian Bjorn Syx in a sister BMW M3 E30. Syx is well able to give Lietaer a run for his money on Belgian Historic events.
So, almost two years after Mats was photographed in Belgium with a “See you there” door panel in his hand, he has arrived in Killarney for the 2021 Historic Rally.
