Tralee motorcycle racer Emmet O’Grady is relishing the double challenge of racing in the final round of the British Superbike Championship and against road racing legend Michael Dunlop this weekend.
Last week O’Grady revealed that he has been selected by Wilson Craig Honda Racing to contest the final Supersport round of BSB on a 600cc Honda.
Earlier today Michael Dunlop confirmed he was entered in the same race for the Associated British Motorcycles team.
Dunlop will race a development GP2 bike in Supersport Race at Brands Hatch this weekend.
Both Supersport and GP2 bikes races in the same events during BSB rounds pitching the Tralee man against the road racing legend.
“If I come away with a few championship points this weekend I will be more than happy,” O’Grady told Kerry Motorsport News.
“These guys, its their day job, they have plans to move on to Moto GP.”
“MD is doing this to keep sharp for the roads, he is very good on a Superbike but he just loves a 600. On a good day Michael could put a GP2 bike on the podium. I am looking forward to a good weekend.”
O’Grady, is no stranger to the Brands Hatch circuit having previously competed in the 2009 Triumph Triple Challenge and the 2011 British Superbike Cup, along with stints in the British Superstock Championships in 2012.
Emmet part of the TAG Honda Ireland Team and finished his Dunlop Irish Masters Irish Superbike championship off in fine form by taking fifth in the overall standings last weekend.
